Palghar Mob-Lynching
Sadhus going to attend Guru's funeral - According to reports, on Thursday (16 April 2020), three people including two sadhus were beaten to death with sticks in a village in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The monk was traveling with the driver in a car in Surat district of Gujarat. It is being told that his guru lived here who died. He was going to attend the funeral of his guru.
The police just kept watching the spectacle - On Monday, another video about Palghar surfaced on social media, which showed that some police personnel were also present on the spot during the incident. A video shows the crowd pulling the sadhus in front of the police from the police checkpoint and the fierce mob beating the monk fiercely. But the police makes no effort to save them except to watch the spectacle.
Maharashtra Home Minister said that nothing is communal - Deshmukh tweeted, "Police have detained 110 people involved in the murder of three people going to Surat in Palghar. I have ordered a high-level inquiry into the murder case."
Deshmukh said that the police is keeping a close watch on such people, who want to create disharmony in the society through this incident. Deshmukh said, "Those killed and killed in the Palghar incident were not from different religions."
It is noteworthy that two policemen have been suspended in the case following heavy political pressure and outrage from the Sant Samaj. 110 people including 9 minors have been arrested. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered an inquiry into the case.
